Reader’s Edyn

I always felt like I could do something more than just read. Finally, I have found both a creative outlet and a chance to do something meaningful with my reading. This blog was created in appreciation of and tribute to all of the authors who have brought me joy through their books. These reviews are my way of giving back to authors and providing recognition for the hard work that each one completes every day!

Interview and GIVEAWAY with author Cheryl Dragon

Interview and GIVEAWAY with author Cheryl Dragon

Hello my favorite readers of all time! I can’t thank you all enough for your support even I stumble a bit. I have been really trying to keep things on track since Gryffyn’s surgery and I was doing pretty good … but my life, as many of you know, loves to test me on a constant basis. The latest hurdle … pneumonia. Yay! I thought it was bad when one of my boys got it last year. I was so wrong! It can get a lot worse! At least I can get out of bed now and breathe a little. Anyway … I really appreciate seeing you all return time and time again even when I have been gone for a while. Thanks you very much!
So today I thought I would change things up. I haven’t done an interview in a while and I really enjoy them because you get a little snippit from the lives of the authors who are interviewed. It is almost like a quick glimpse into who that author is. And a lot of the time, I end up liking the author even more because so many of them have fun with the questions. It is fun! I do not know much about Ms. Dragon, but her book intrigued me so I wanted to know more about her. Not to mention this book is part of my favorite series ~ 1 Night Stand by Decadent Publishing! Weeeee!!!! I hope you enjoy the questions as much as I enjoyed coming up with the questions. Please allow me to introduce to you:

**CHERYL  DRAGON**
A lover of unusual things, Cheryl Dragon enjoys writing unique stories with sinfully hot erotic romance. Her two favorite settings are Las Vegas and New Orleans… where anything can happen! Cheryl lives in the Chicagoland area with her deaf albino cat.
You can find out more about Ms. Dragon at the following places:

**INTERVIEW**
How has your life changed since becoming published?
The biggest thing is I have readers out there who I can connect with on Facebook, Twitter, and at conferences. It’s wonderful to get feedback and see what people like. I write the books that come to mind and it’s fun to see how they are received.
I am still waiting for a day that I can ever make it to a convention or signing to meet one of te authors I enjoy so much! It must be amazing to be able to connect that way. I k now it is a lot of fun for me as a reader! What is your typical day like?
I’m a morning person so I’m up about 6am and get coffee! Hazelnut coffee while I check email and find something for breakfast. Then Caramel coffee while I’m getting my mind on the goals for the day. After a shower, I’m on the laptop for the morning…it could be edits, writing, or promotion of a new release. Grab lunch during Days of Our LivesJ and then grab the mail, handle any bills or errands before I settle in. I write best in the morning so usually I’ll save edits or proofing for the afternoon/evenings.
Coffee and coffee. I fully support the beginning or your mornings! *nods* Tell us a little about your current release THE LAST MAN.
I wanted to write about coworkers who really belonged together but held back from making a move because things were working. Both characters had trust issues in the past so the fact that they trust each other is a huge deal. It takes Madame Eve and a 1 Night Stand set up to break them from their safe world.
I love that Madame Eve! She is awesomesauce! Any upcoming projects you would like to tell us about?
Tons! I have two ménage + stories coming out in November both part of popular series.
~Salesmen on the Rise is book 6 of the Lucky Springs series about a small town in Louisiana.
~4 GIs & A Witch is book 4 in the Warrior’s Craft series. Paranormal erotic romance m/m/m/m/f. A little tease for this oneJ
Stacey and her four hot male friends are home in Los Angeles on leave from the military. Being off duty doesn’t mean they can ignore a case of missing civilians and divers that takes a mystical bent. From curses to sea monsters, it’s a mission that takes very special skills. Working with a secret unit of the military, they write their own standard operating procedure for investigations. With a little help and a lot of nerve, they find group love and make the California beaches once again safe for everyone.

Sounds hot! What is your favorite thing about this book?
I love that characters know each other and yet are still discovering each other.
That is a good component to have in stories. When the characters know everything about each other it can become stagnant sometimes. What’s next for Cheryl Dragon?
A busy holiday season and more writing! I’ll be the Romantic Times Convention in May 2013!
Oh! How fun! Have a great time! When did you begin your journey as an author and what pulled you in the direction of writing?
I always wanted to be a writer. My parents talked me out of majoring in something related to it in college but I kept writing on the side.
Thank the Lord you kept it up! Any special quirks or habits when writing?
Generally, I leave the TV on while I write. Some authors use music but it distracts me more. Reruns of shows I’ve already seen are my perfect white noise.
That is a new one. But I completely get it. How do you celebrate when you finish a novel?
I generally write novellas so I don’t necessarily celebrate each one. When a book comes out and I’m busy with promotion that day, I tend to order pizza or Chinese food that day so I’m not worried about cooking anything and I have time to chat with readers via twitter, facebook and I’m sure I’ve updated as much as I can. No excuses!
Nice back up plan. Nothing says day complete like take out and not having to worry about cooking once in a while. Any advice you’d like to share for aspiring writers?
Read what you love to write. Write what you love and learn the business so you can find out where it fits. Matching what you love to write with the market is the best way to sell stuff so you must read it and figure out how your genre works!
Very good advice! Tell us one thing that readers wouldn’t know about you.
I have a very good memory and retain a ton of information.
Ugh! That sounds like a lot of work. Does it ever get crammed in there? I can’t even remember easy things sometimes because I have way too much to try and remember. What is one thing you know now that you wish you had known when you first started writing?
That I would sell and it’d all work out.
I am not the most patient of people, but I have learned that things always work out the way they were meant to be. I may not always get it right away, but eventually it all comes together nicely. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and who would you meet?
The Regency Period. I love the novels of Jane Austen so I’d love to meet her and talk about her characters. Of course I’d want to come back to our time.
That is the kicker, yes? LOL Do you have any other hobbies or interests besides writing?
I love good storytelling so TV and movies are another big interest.
I do have a few favorite TV shows myself. Thank the lord or Netflix and DVRs! *nods* Salty or Sweet?
Salty
What is your favorite drink?
Diet Dr. Pepper
Oh sheesh! DH loves that drink too! Tastes like medicine to me. But hey, he will be happy to know an author loves the drink as well. And I won’t live it down… *snort*Favorite place you have ever visited?
Vegas
Really? Vegas? I wish I could ask you what you enjoy about it. I don’t mind very short periods of time but that city is huge. I am a small town gal! M&M’s or Skittles?
M&M’s
Absolutely! E-reader or Paperback?
E-reader
Nah. I am a paperback snob. I love the feel and smell of the books! Although I have come to appreciate the convenience of E-readers over the last year. Long hair or short hair on a guy?
Short
Caffeine or Decaf?
Caffeine!
<~~~ THIS! Flowers or chocolate?
Chocolate
And THAT <~~~! Do you have any phobias or fears?
Large dogs ( I was bitten as a child)
ACK! That sucks! Are you a night person or morning person?
Morning.

I am sorry. What is this “morning” thing you speak of? Oh! You mean that time when I first crack an eyelid and say “Not again” and then proceed to try and go back to sleep? LMAO!
So what do you think? Not a believer yet? Wait until you read about the book! Trust me! *nods*

**THE  LAST  MAN**

**BLURB**
Jeffery Ellison and Monica Collins face off daily in Atlanta's family court system. Both want the best for their clients but they rarely agree. The sparks are obvious to everyone else but Monica has been disappointed by men too many times. Jeff knows pushing her will only hurt the respect and trust they've built. A match with 1NS sounds like just the thing. The pair is off to Vegas for a legal conference and to enjoy their one night stands. Jeff does his best to spend time with her outside of work but he can't be sure she's his for the night. All Jeff can do is hope that Madame Eve agrees with his heart and Monica will let her guard down long enough to see their passionate potential.

**EXCERPT**
He stared at Monica as she dozed. Being with her felt so easy when she wasn’t fighting things. She kept a wall around her when it came to men and rarely dated. That wall wasn’t the same as her professional veneer, but unlike most men looking for fun, he saw through both. They both had a soft spot for the kids. The idea of her as a mother turned him on, if the children were his. No other woman triggered those images in his mind.
She shifted in her sleep, and her head rested on his shoulder. The spark of protective male hormones mixed with raw sexual desire made it hard not to kiss her. Instead, he inhaled her scent while trying not to wake her. Their flight cruised along perfectly until the pilot announced their descent. Her eyes snapped open and she sat up straight. “Sorry. You should’ve woken me.”
“Why? You obviously needed some sleep.” And he’d liked the feeling of her so close.
Her eyes locked with his as the plane began the dip toward Sin City. Reflexively, she grabbed his hand and closed her eyes. He squeezed back reassuringly. He hated the hassle of travel but she really didn’t like it. She stayed frozen until the plane stopped at the gate.
“I hate flying. Why can’t they do this in Atlanta?” She let go of him and rolled the tension from her neck.
“Maybe next year it’ll be within driving distance.”
He helped her with her carry-ons and led the way to the cab stand. The bells and chimes of slot machines filled the air. She took everything in as he glanced at his phone. No calls.
“You offered to be my tour guide. So what’s the plan?” she asked with a hint of flirtation.
“Check in at the hotel. Then we can grab some lunch and start the fun. The buffet in the hotel sounds amazing. I’m starved.” Madame Eve had made the reservations and nothing less than the top of the line would do. Hopefully he wasn’t misreading Monica’s friendlier inclination to him.
She nodded. “Me, too. I couldn’t eat before the flight. Buffet sounds good.”
He smiled and looked around as they stood in line for a cab. She seemed content allowing him to handle things. They could easily be a married couple for all anyone else knew. It felt right and he hoped she sensed it, too. Some women needed to compete or show they didn’t need a man. Monica had her own style of strength and while she was quiet, he loved that she never tried to hide her femininity.
“So where are we going after lunch?” she asked.
He leaned in and whispered, “It’s a surprise.”

See? Did I tell you or what? The story premise reminds me of one of my well-liked girly movies, The Laws of Attraction with Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore. I really enjoy that movie and the idea of reading something similar is very appealing to me!

    1. ACK! Say it isn't so! You ditched your good luck charm? How did that work out for you! But you say you don't "really" have one ... indicates that you just might have something still that you lean back on. *raises brow*

    1. Hmmm ... well that doesn't really help ... you must have something ... anything ... a thing you do without fail? A favorite color you always choose when given a choice, a lucky number? Nothing?

    1. Hi Marlene ~
I think a lucky number qualifies. I have seen a lot of people with a keychain or necklace ... something like that with their lucky number on it. Also a lucky charm. *wink* Thanks so much for sharing with us and spending some time with us today. :)
