Giveaway!
GFC Alternative
Okay, so
many of us have wondered what was going to happen when Google dropped Google
Friends Connect from all blogs that are not Blogger blogs. Many of us have the
majority of our followers through GFC! While I have a Blogger blog, I am too
worried about GFC. Who is to say that we won’t end up loosing GFC at some point
also? We need an alternative because the bottom line is … no one is safe! And
in the meantime, how do we protect ourselves from losing the followers that we
have worked so hard to get? I am fairly new at blogging at less than one year,
and I am under 100 followers, but dang, every follower means victory for me. It
means I did something right to attract that follower. I do not want to lose
anyone! And I am sure you do not either.
Well,
help is here. Thanks very much to Rachel (many of you know her as Parajunkee),
we all now know about our alternative to GFC. Not shocking, it is Linky
Followers! Yep, that cool little name you see on all of the blog hops we all
participate in. The one and the same. I signed up for my account. It was quick
and easy. I have spent a ton of time in the program, but it took me about 5
minutes to sign up and add the widget to my blog. That simple and easy. And
hey, if I can figure it out, so can you. I am completely self-taught. You get
where I am going with this? Okay then.
So in
honor of our new alternative, Parajunkee is hosting a giveaway hop to spread
the word about Linky Followers. I don’t have a lot to offer at this time, but I
do have a fabulous book I would like one lucky reader to have. Also, this is a
blog hop giveaway event. You too
can sign up to host your own giveaway for the purposes of spreading the word
about Linky Followers simply by visiting Parajunkee here.
**WHAT YOU GET**
A
hardback copy of Lisa Kleypas’ Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor.
This book is brand new and has never been read. I ended up with an extra copy
and want someone who either loves Kleypas and hasn’t had a chance to read this
book yet; or someone who has yet to read Kleypas because she is phenomenal, to
have a chance to read it. Also, her new book, Rainshadow Road, book 2 in the series, is
about to release. So this book will start you off and get you ready for the
next installment.
**WHAT YOU DO**
It is
crazy simple. Just follow my blog via Linky Followers and leave a comment on
this post. You can say anything – even just “Hi”. Just so I know you stopped
by. And if you are already using Linky Followers, please tell me how first
impressions are going. I’d love any feedback! I am even adding the Linky
Followers widget below. Easy, right? So what are you waiting for? Follow me,
leave a comment, and you will get a chance to win too!
The Fine Print
Fine Print: One commenter will be drawn at random to
receive a hardback copy of Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor
by Lisa Kleypas. Must be 18 or older to enter. Reader’s Edyn is NOT responsible
for lost or damaged items. Only one entry per person. Any duplicate entries
will be deleted. Anyone may be disqualified at any time so be sure to follow
directions to avoid disqualification. No substitutions allowed. Contest ends March
1, 2012 at midnight MST. Winner will be contacted by e-mail. Winner will have
48 hours to respond, or a new winner will be chosen. Odds of wining depend on
the number of entries received.
Thanks for following me. Now I'm following you :)
ReplyDeleteLinky follower: Michael Speak
Thanks very much Michael. I am very excited to see if Linky will live up to the shoes it has to fill. I am optimistic at this point. :)
DeleteThanks for the heads up about Linky. I've added it to my own blog now, too!
ReplyDeleteNo problem Emm! Thanks for stopping by. Parajunkee gets the credit - she is my guru of all thing blog-related. :) I hope it lives up to the hype. It seems to be doing well so far. Time will tell. :)
Deleteadded you on linky followers! Thanks for the add as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following back Niki! Great to have met you. I look forward to your reviews. :) And congratulations again on the new blog. I have had a blast since starting mine and met so many fabulous people. I know you will to. :)

Hey Jessi! Thanks for stopping by. I will definitely return the favor. :) Good luck to you.
DeleteI can't believe that I haven't heard of this before! My blog is now on Linky too and I'm def a follower of you! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIs It Amazing
Alex, I know. If it wasn't for Parajunkee, I would have no clue about Linky. I may not be losing GFC yet, but who knows what the future holds. If they end it for everyone else, we are in no way safe just because we have Blogger blogs. So, the theme here is options. Thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteI follow via linky ( miki)
ReplyDeletebut is this giveaway open to international too?
thanks you a lot
Miki - Thanks for the follow. I do not know much about international shipping, but I would guess it is pretty costly. How about we do this - I will enter you and then, if you are drawn, we will figure out something fair so that you can get the book still. In the meantime, I will find out what I can about shipping internationally. Sound fair?
DeleteI'm not so bothered about the book but followed you anyway! I seem to have forgotten to follow you on GFC before, you were, assuredly, in my reader. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for stopping by, Hannah. I appreciate the follow. :) Perhaps, if you win the book, you might have a friend who would want it? Just a thought. Hope to see you around.
DeleteI have just signed up for Linky followers a few days ago so I really don't have an opinion about it. It doesn't seem much different than GFC. Thanks for making it a giveaway opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHey Sophia. Thanks for stopping by. I don't have much to say about it yet. At this point I like it for the following reasons: 1) It is easy to use, 2) It is blogger friendly and 3) It gives my audience an alternative. Beyond that, I don't have anything spectacular to say about it, and I don't have anything negative to report either. I do like that you can categorize the blogs you follow as soon as you follow them. That is a bit of a time-saver.
Deletethanks for the chance to win :)
