Post & GIVEAWAY with author Lacey Wolfe
Hello
again my Lovelies! A while back ago I had the opportunity to read and review a
book written by Lacey Wolfe. The title of the book was FINDING HOME and it was
a sweet romance with the slightest bit of sexual content. In other words, not
too over the top for those of you who are sensitive to such things. I really
enjoyed Ms. Wolfe’s book and when I found out she had another release, I wanted
to be able to tell you all about it. I will very likely be reading this book in
the near future, so you can bet I will tell you all about it when I have it
finished. Until then, I would like to take this opportunity to spread the word
about Ms. Wolfe’s book BOUND BY PLEASURE. And yes … this book is in an entirely
different genre. Yet another reason I want to read it. I really like exploring
authors in different genres to see how their writing styles differ. But enough
about my preferences. I am telling you all of this so that you can make up your
own minds and hopefully decide to read this book. I asked Ms. Wolfe if she
would write us a guest post about the process that goes into researching for a
book with BDSM components. It seems to me like it might be a bit difficult
because this world is so much a part of its own realm. But luckily we have Ms.
Wolfe here today to shed some light on how she went about researching for this
book.
Please
allow me to welcome back to the blog:

Wolfe has always had a passion for words, whether it’s getting lost in a book
or writing her own. From the time she was a child she would slip away to write
short stories about people she knew and fantasies she wished would happen. It
has always been her dream to be a published author and with her two children
now of school age, she finally has the time to work on making her dream come
true.

**Researching BDSM**
Bound By Pleasure is the first BDSM I’ve written.
I’ve read several and I had a general idea on the lifestyle, but I couldn’t
write it blindly. I had to research the relationship between and Dom and sub. I
needed to know what objects looked like, such as a flogger or spreader bar. So,
I turned to my search engine for help, along with a few authors who already
write this genre.
I first
want to say, when I sit down and read a BDSM book, I don’t picture the women or
men the way I saw them in pictures. But, like most, I am reading these books
for the fantasy. Do I really want to be tied up and spanked with a flogger?
Eh…no. It looks like it would hurt.
During
my research on various sites, I began to understand the lifestyle more. Aside
from the pictures, I found the bond that the two consenting adults must have
for one another must be strong. It’s full of trust and knowing that the other
one knows what the other needs and will take care of them. The relationship
isn’t taken lightly. And I hope in my new release, Bound By Pleasure, I was able to portray just how strong a bond
like this can be.
One of
my favorite things that I researched were the collars. There were so many
different types, materials, and designs. The collar is a symbol of two people
being joined together in the lifestyle.
Bound By Pleasure is by far the book I have done
the most research for. If you decide to pick it up, I hope you enjoy it! I love
hearing from readers, feel free to stop by to give me your thoughts.

Ironically,
I have very recently started reading books with BDSM components to them. After
reading a few novellas with light bondage, I finally took the plunge and read a
full length novel. I have to say that I was completely intrigued not only by
the set of rules within this lifestyle, but also by those collars. It may seem
like an accessory to any of our eyes, but to members of this lifestyle, the
sign of ownership is instantly recognizable. The world of BDSM in its entirety
is actually pretty fascinating. It is so much more than whips and chains as
some may first think. But like Ms. Wolfe, pain is not something I like to
embrace. I read for the fantasy when it comes to BDSM. But preference aside, I
do have a high level of respect for those who choose to live this lifestyle. It
is a lifestyle and those that take it seriously are committed on a level that
many cannot fathom.
So how
about I turn off the serious and get to the fantasy that we all enjoy and
crave? Sounds good, no?
**BOUND BY PLEASURE**
Can
Megan let her guard down enough to experience the pleasures Greg has to offer?
As an
erotic romance author who has spent hours researching the BDSM lifestyle, Megan
thinks she knows all about it. But when she decides to explore it firsthand,
she quickly learns that there's a lot she doesn't know.
Greg
isn't your typical Dom. He's an artist, and his life is anything but organized.
He likes Megan from the start. She's honest and he sees something different in
her. The more time he spends with her, the more he finds himself acting in ways
he never has before. He's developing feelings for her, and he's hopeful Megan
might be feeling the same way, but every time he tries to get her to open up to
him, it seems that she takes a huge step back.
Megan
has a hard time expressing herself, a problem that only intensified when her ex
criticized her every time she tried to share her feelings. As a result, she
learned to bite her tongue and keep her emotions hidden. So when she begins to
fall in love with Greg, she isn't sure how to tell him, or even if she should
tell him. But she fears if she doesn't open up to him soon, she may lose him.
Can Megan find the courage she needs before it's too late?

**EXCERPT**
Turning
off the car, Megan grabbed her purse. She quickly checked her makeup and hair
in the rearview mirror. It was now or never. Taking a deep breath, she climbed
out of her car and headed for the front door. The house was gorgeous and the
yard was well taken care of. Once she made it up the stone walkway, she saw
that the door was ajar. Strange.
She
pushed it open and called out and was greeted by a deep voice that echoed from
somewhere in the back. He directed her to go to his study which she would find
to her left.
Well,
she had made it this far, and he knew she was here—there was no turning back
now. Once again she took a deep breath, and she made her way to his study. The
door was closed when she found it, so once inside the room she made sure to
shut it back.
Megan
couldn’t believe the sight of his office. It was in complete disarray. Not one
bit of organization. There were half started paintings on canvases scattered
here and there, and piles of paper stacked on the bookshelves and desk. Perhaps
it was best to get out of there. She couldn’t understand why Dawn had
recommended him. This was not what she’d expected at all.
Right
as she was about to leave she heard the doorknob jiggle. Her eyes widened as
she wondered what to do next. Should she meet him on her knees? Or simply take
a seat in a chair since this was only an interview? She opted for the chair and
sat just as he walked in.
It
took every ounce of Megan’s self-control not to let her mouth drop open when
she saw the man who presented himself in front of her. Once again, this was not
what she had expected. In strutted a man in loose, ripped jeans and a baggy
t-shirt. He had sandy brown hair that was long and tied back in a ponytail. His
eyes were crystal blue. A gorgeous smile was plastered on his face as he took a
seat directly in front of her on a bar stool.
“You
must be Megan,” he said.
“I
am.” She had no idea how to address him or what to say.
“I
apologize for keeping you waiting.” He reached over and took a piece of paper
from the pile on his desk. “I looked over your application, and I see that you
only have a little experience in this lifestyle. Have you ever had a Master?”
“No,”
she responded.
Greg’s
eyes drifted up and down her body. If she wasn’t feeling self-conscious before,
she definitely was now.
“Is
something wrong?” he asked.
“No,
why?”
“You
have to be honest with me or else I won’t even consider you. Trust is very
important in a relationship such as you’re wanting to enter into.”
Taking
a deep breath, she blurted out, “To be frank, you’re not what I was expecting.”
He
chuckled. “Continue.”
“You’re
so laid back, your office is not organized, and well, as I said, you are not
what I was at all expecting.”
“Tell
me then, what were you expecting?”
“A
businessman with a powerful job.”
Talk
about misconception. This is a great excerpt because it shows what a lot of
people would likely jump to in-so-far as conclusions. And I have one more treat
for you all …

I have read and love books with BDSM. I think the reason that I love them so much is the trust and communication required for these relationships. Thank you so much fo the chance to win a copy of this book. It sounds great :)
ReplyDeleteJune, you are more than welcome. And thanks again for spending some time with us today. You are absolutely right about the communication needed in such relationships. Of course, there are those who break the bonds of trust and that is awful. But the majority of the time I believe trust is in place. In many cases I might go so far as to say that this is one of the best examples of trust ever. Think of it ... you have to trust another person to act responsibly and be able to stop if needed. If that is not beyond trusting, I don't know what is. Good luck to you in the contest!
DeleteI haven't read these books before, but these seems interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Generating interest in one of my major goals on the blog. Have you ever read and BDSM before, or would this be your first? Good luck to you in the contest and thanks very much for stopping by.
