Reader’s Edyn

I always felt like I could do something more than just read. Finally, I have found both a creative outlet and a chance to do something meaningful with my reading. This blog was created in appreciation of and tribute to all of the authors who have brought me joy through their books. These reviews are my way of giving back to authors and providing recognition for the hard work that each one completes every day!

Good Morning, Everyone! So thrilled to see you all today! Today we have another new-to-me author and book! Today she is back to let us know about her latest release and I can’t wait to find out more about it! Please allow me to feature on the blog Christina Bauer and her release, ALIEN MINDS …

**CHRISTINA BAUER**

**BIO**

Christina Bauer thinks that fantasy books are like bacon: they just make life better. All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too.

Christina graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School with BA’s in English along with Television, Radio, and Film Production. She lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby.

**BLURB**

DIVERGENT meets OCEAN’S EIGHT in this urban fantasy heist!

On my seventeenth birthday, I wake up in the hospital to find I just survived a sketchy but terrible accident. My parents stand by my bedside—both are beautiful, wealthy, and super-nice. They tell me that once I leave the hospital, I’ll attend the prestigious ECHO Academy, where I’ll churn out equations for the government along with my mega-smart peers.

So, I’m living the perfect life.

Then why does everything feel all wrong?

My parents, my house and even ECHO Academy…none of it fits. Plus, what’s up with Thorne, my brooding yet yummy classmate who keeps telling me I need to remember my true past, which seems to have included a lot of us kissing? That’s one thing I’d really like to remember, except for the fact that I’m pretty sure Thorne is hiding a ton of nasty secrets of his own, including the fact that he may not be from this world. But considering how my own past seems alien to me, it’s not like I can judge. Plus, Thorne has dimples. That’s a problem.

And worst of all, why does it feel so yucky to work on these calculations for the government? It’s all supposed to be part of ECHO, but my heart tells me that I’m helping something truly terrible come to pass. Thorne seems to think that kissing him again will release my real memories.

Maybe it’s time to pucker up.

“Appealing and engaging. Love the strong female character!” – Arlene’s Book Reviews

This new series is perfect for: fans of urban fantasy, action & adventure, cool science, evil corporations, forbidden romance and hot new classmates who may or may not be aliens.

**EXCERPT **

I pace the plush carpet of the suite’s living room, excitement zinging through my veins. Plans for tonight keep spinning through my mind.
The resort has a romantic place for dinner. Everything is oak tables and candlelight. Afterward, they have a laid-back dance club that plays classic jazz. I already changed my sentient into a dark suit for the occasion. Now I’m waiting for Meimi.
“Ready!” she calls from her chamber.
My heart soars. When I reply, it takes all my warrior training to keep my voice level. “Good news.”
A door swings open, revealing the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.
The black dress fits her in all the right places. Meimi has curves and I love it. The silk wrap hangs lightly around her shoulders. She isn’t wearing any make-up, but my girl doesn’t need it. She’s stunning with just her green eyes and long brown hair.
My transcendent.
This time when I speak, my voice comes out a little rough. “You look stunning.”
“Thank you.” A gentle blush colors her cheeks. “What’s the plan for tonight?”
“Are you certain you want to waste an evening with me?”
“Positive. I’ve decided I’ll seduce you and then lock you out in the hallway.”
“Really?” I can’t help but laugh. My girl and her plans. “I love that idea.” I can’t help myself. Crossing the room, I set my hands at her waist and begin swaying from side to side. “As long you’re near, that’s all I need.”
Meimi giggles. “What are we doing now?”
“A practice dance as I review our schedule for the evening.”
Meimi loops her arms around my neck and leans against me. Together, we slowly move from foot to foot. She nuzzles my neck. “About that schedule?”
“Right.” I tighten my grip on her waist. “We’ll begin with dinner.”
“Good.”
“And then go dancing.”
“Even better.”
Taking her hand in mine, I guide her into a twirl. There’s no need for us to speak; the movement is natural. As she spins around, the dress flares to show off more of her legs.
With that, it’s official. Every inch of Meimi is beautiful.
“This is the perfect dress for a twirl,” I add. “We’ll have to do that multiple times tonight.”
She leans in against me and we slow dance again. “I can’t believe this is happening. It’s like a dream.”
“Do you want to stop?”
“No, I want to live this moment to its fullest.”
