**GUEST POST**
TAKING A LEAP
Writing
has always been a passion of mine. I
always considered myself to be shy and introverted. Academics came naturally to me so whenever I
would get bored in class, I’d write. It
started with poetry then it turned into writing short stories. Many of those stories were for “my eyes
only.” They were stories in my head that I felt needed to be written. One day, I discovered the wonderful world of
Fan Fiction and my love for writing found its home. Between juggling my full-time job as a
teacher and my family, I would write stories about movie and TV
characters. I met some nice people and
developed many online friendships. Two
years ago, they encouraged me to publish some of my work. I will be honest, I was terrified. All the “what ifs” constantly played over and
over in my head until fear of failure stop me from trying.
As
a high school teacher, I’m always trying to encourage my students to not give
up on their dreams. Last year, one of my students asked if I’d achieved my
dream. The answer was no. For two years, I’d let fear of failure stop
me from simply trying. I decided at that
moment to take a leap. I may never reach
the New York Times Bestsellers List, but I promise you, it won’t be because I
didn’t try.

**TEASER**
He knocked on her door.
"Come in."
Sophia was sitting behind her desk going over some
paperwork. He closed the door and sat down in the chair opposite hers.
"Is there something I can help you with, William?"
Sophia asked, arching a brow.
"First of all, you can call me Liam. My father is the
only person that calls me by full name, and I hate it."
She put her paperwork down giving him her undivided
attention. "Okay, Liam. Is there something I can help you
with?"
"Yes, you owe me an apology."
She burst out laughing at his outrageous demand, but quickly
composed herself when she realized that he was serious.
"Why do you feel that I owe you an apology?"
"Because you insulted me twice yesterday when you don't
know a thing about me, Sophia."
"Okay, how do you feel like I’ve insulted you?"
He leaned forward in his chair. "First you commented on
how others work for what they have while some haven’t. It was obvious you were
referring to me. Then you made the comment about my car.”
Sophia shrugged at his words. "Well, I hate to break it
to you, but I only apologize when I have something to be sorry for. As far as
me knowing something about you, you’d be surprised at what I know about your
type, William."
Her arrogance was starting to give him on his nerves.
"Can you see where you may have crossed the line, Ms. Clark?"
She rested her arms on her desk. “I was raised to call a
spade a spade. You, sir, are a spoiled entitled rich boy who’s had the world
handed to him on a silver platter. You went to USC and majored in Liberal Arts.
We both know that’s just a fancy way to say that you got a degree because deep
down you knew your daddy would give you this company even though you don't know
the first thing about advertising or marketing. I, however, worked my ass off
to graduate at the top of my class in both undergrad and graduate school. I’ve
kicked ass at every ad agency I have ever worked and I’m damn good at what I
do. If you’re waiting for me to apologize to you, William, then you’re
going to be waiting for a long time. Now, if there isn’t anything else, please
close the door on your way out. I have important work to finish."

"It has everything to do with us,” she burst out
indignantly. “I don't even know what the hell I am doing with you. Every fiber
in my body is telling me to run as far away from you as humanly possible. You
say and do these nice things but in the back of my mind, I’m wondering if this
is all some type of game to you. You have a track record of being a man-whore
and if I let myself fall for you then I’ll end up hurt or worse. Soon there
might be a video of me doing god knows what plastered all over the internet for
the world to see."
Liam was hurt by her words. “A man-whore? Is that what you
think of me?"
"A spade is a spade, Liam."
He bit his bottom lip and gripped the steering wheel trying
to contain his anger. Man-whore. He gathered his thoughts. “Okay, maybe
I had been a man-whore in the past and banged a bunch of women that I didn't
know their names. Yes, I acted immature and childish with my friends sending
videos and pictures of my conquests but since I’ve met you I haven't been that
person. Since I met you, I haven't wanted to be that person. I like waking up
in the morning knowing where I am and not feeling like the scum of the Earth
because I lied and degraded some poor girl I’ll never see again. This is not a
game for me. You are not a game to me. I like you. I want to get to know
you. I am taking you out on a date. I haven't been on a date or even kissed a
girl in over two years so that should tell you that this isn't game. The day I
met you, I had an opportunity to have a threesome with identical twins, but it
was something about you that made me not want to go through with it. What I am
trying to say is I would rather have blue balls and be with you than to bag a
different woman every night."
