So
far, Smoke didn’t share Lindsey with other males, but she was aware
of the orgies inside the central building. She heard a few women talk
of them. Some even liked them, being surrounded by hard-bodied men
hung like rocket launchers. Those women went at it without the use of
the stimulation drug Smoke used on everyone else.
She
was used to the little needle pricks and welcomed them. It made
acting the part with Smoke so much easier, believing in her heart
Trevor made love to her, but guarding that fact from Smoke by holding
Trevor’s name in the secret place, locked safely away.
Lindsey
understood some of the sexual attraction. She had that once, but she
couldn’t go there in her mind. Smoke searched her thoughts almost
daily and always found if she’d tapped into any memory nuggets of
people she loved. He possessed psychic abilities others didn’t.
Already, the thoughts of Trevor that had emerged she’d need to bury
before Smoke returned.
If
an orgy ensued during their pack meeting, Smoke would be preoccupied
for a good while. She reached her arm underneath the mattress, where
a few weeks ago she saw Smoke slide his journal. Lindsey had fallen
asleep with her back to the fireplace. A crack of thunder wakened her
in time to witness Smoke closing a journal and placing it beneath the
mattress they shared.
Lindsey
touched its leather cover, wrapped her fingers around it, and hauled
it out.
**INTERVIEW**
How
has your life changed since becoming published?
The
more books I have published the more time I dedicate to my writing.
Each book has given me greater confidence as an author and writer.
So, as far as changes, my life has evolved away from things I used to
do previously…my priorities are different, and I’m totally
focused on a life of writing.
I
wonder what you used to do and if you ever miss it. But yay for your
writing focus. It brings more reading pleasure to people like me that
much quicker. What is your typical day like?
My
day starts out with promoting the guests on my blogs, emails, editing
jobs…and then writing. I’m realizing writing doesn’t always
have a front seat. It doesn’t happen every day, but when I do
write, it purges out in big lumps of words;)
“...purges
out in big lumps of words...” I like that. Tell us a little about
your current release.

Wow!
LIIA is a mouthful! But it is also very catchy. When I first heard it
I was like – yeah, totally want to know more about THAT! Any
upcoming projects you would like to tell us about?
I’m
laying out the next book in the series – Smoke-n-Bliss Book
3 in the series. Also I’ve been working on some shorts for a couple
of anthologies. Plus…there’s another possible series playing
around inside my head…I’ve been making notes and character
sketches:)
I
have learned that the mind of a writer is basically always in a
creative mode … always spinning new stories or continuing others
started. Well done. How do you keep in contact with your readers?
I’m
still figuring this out (LOL). There are a number of social media
circles I belong to, but still not sure I’m reaching readers. I’ve
joined a couple book clubs on GR, but honestly haven’t devoted
enough time to them. It’s continuous work in progress - finding out
what works best;)
I
say that whatever social media venue you choose, stay active and
visible. Even if people don't seem to be commenting, keep commenting
on the blogs you are hosted on. And always respond to tweets and
posts. It grows after a while in leaps and bounds. But that active
visibility is key. What is your favorite thing about this book?
I
love that there are a number of stories inside this book –
characters continue to grow, expand, connect to one another…and
each relationship sparks another sub-story. I like reading books that
weave a lot of story threads…and I hope that’s exactly what I’ve
created.
Story
threads are great because there is always something else in the
sidelines waiting to be written. I love series because I get to
revisit characters I enjoyed previously while getting to know new
ones at the same time. What’s next for Chance, Olivia, Smoke,
Trevor and Lindsey?
There
are certainly changes as Smoke attempts to redeem himself – there
will be children introduced into the world – new relationships
develop – Olivia’s sister Lucy plays a bigger part – and
possibly a discovery of another Lycan species :)
Good
to know. When did you begin your journey as an author and what pulled
you in the direction of writing?
Writing
has always been a passion of mine, but I never took it as a serious
option. Then, in 2000 I recognized the signs…my corporate job was
draining me…like a vampire. I got a little scared I’d end up like
my old boss – bitter and resentful - due to stuff I couldn’t
control. After a chat with my husband, I resigned.
Took
a 2-year writing course, plus many other classes and workshops (still
take them;) to hone my craft. I initially wrote YA under another name
– then took on a ghost writing job – filling in the love scenes
of an erotic romance. LOL – I fell in love with the genre and put
all of my YA books on hold.
Good
decision to have another pen name for the YA. I personally find it
difficult to read completely different genres from the same author.
And I think the point of YA is defeated when there is such a cross
over by the same name. I should probably explain that better, but
that is another post entirely. How do you celebrate when you finish a
novel?
My
husband takes me to dinner;)
Awe.
That is sweet! Any advice you’d like to share for aspiring writers?
Stick
with it…hone your craft with workshops and find a critique group or
partner. FanStory is an excellent place to practice – it’s a
supportive community. If you love what you do, it will eventually pay
off in all kinds of abundance (but not necessarily the green stuff).
Very
good advice! Tell us one thing that readers wouldn’t know about
you.
I
married my soul-mate in the senior year of high school…and we’re
still happily married after 43 years. Not saying it has been all
bliss…but it has been an adventuresome life together ;)
Awesome.
I can say almost exactly the same thing. :) What is one thing you
know now that you wish you had known when you first started writing?
I
wish I would have written more books before developing my platform.
Salty
or Sweet?
Both
together. Like chocolate pretzels
Good
answer. Have you seem the M&M's sweet and salty mix? Yum!
Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic?
Mostly
Non-alcoholic…but once in a while I indulge:)
Exactly!
What is your favorite drink?
Dirty
Chai Tea Latte
That
is a new one. I love chai. I must try it! Favorite place you have
ever visited?
Upper
Peninsula of Michigan
Nice.
Favorite childhood memory?
Fishing
with my dad;)
I
hope my kids say that one day. M&M’s or Skittles?
M&M’s
- peanut
Really?
I would have bet pretzel with the salty/sweet option. E-reader or
Paperback?
E-reader
Caffeine
or Decaf?
Decaf…but
I always want Caffeine;)
Oh
noes! No want, must have the caffeine! Almond Joy or Mounds?
Both
– depends on mood:)
Thank
you! Flowers or chocolate?
Chocolate
– preferably dark.
Not
a huge fan, but I love the peppermint bark and dark chocolate pieces
that come out at Christmas each year by Dove. I mean LOVE! Now how
about a little taste of SAVAGE SMOKE?

Trevor
fought to get Smoke’s disgustedly grinning face out of his mind.
Knowing that freak made love to Lindsey on a daily basis and worse,
that she accepted and encouraged him, stabbed Trevor deep to his
heart, like a twin silver bladed knife. Images of Smoke and Lindsey
fucking in that damn cabin in Minnesota carved a permanent place in
his head. He recalled how Lindsey rode Smoke as if she loved it, but
the toughest thing for Trevor was seeing Smoke’s mark on her
shoulder. It killed him, leaving a heavy weight inside his chest.
He kicked out his fury,
foot meeting chair, and it slammed into the wall twenty feet away.
Just then Jase sauntered into the Ops room.
“What the heck, Trev.”
Jase strode over to the chair. “You need to get laid, man. Forget
her and move on.” Jase picked it up and bent it back into shape. He
set the chair legs on the floor. One second ticked by, long enough
for Jase to make it back beside Trevor, and the chair busted in half,
making both men jump. “Good grief! That liked-ta scare the fur
right off my gonads.”
Trevor chuckled at Jase’s
exclamation, his non-use of cuss words. It’d been a good month
since he’d heard the sound of his own laughter. And, it didn’t
seem to help his ache or the hollow heaviness. He sighed and turned
to leave.
“Whoa, where ya goin’
in such a hurry? We need to plan an attack. Get those Lycan scumbags
to the Elders so they can be dealt with good and proper.” Jase
sidled closer, eyes wide, brows high and his mouth a thin line, an
expression Trevor recognized as seriousness.
Trevor knew the kid’s look
after mentoring him enough to understand what the young Lycan was up
to, but being pulled into something else would never alleviate his
loss. He trusted Jase to have his back, but didn’t want any part of
a plan that involved Smoke or Lindsey. The little scrapper would have
to find someone else. Trevor considered the younger man standing too
close, in his space, and gave him a shove. Jase’s butt hit the
floor and skidded across the room, stopping beside the chair
remnants. Before Trevor blinked, the wiry shit stood in his face
again.
“Stop acting like a husk
of the Lycan-wolf we all know you to be. You’re setting a crappy
example for the rest of us loners.”
“Then maybe it’s time I
set out on my own. Take up with another pack.”
“You know you can’t just
leave us. You belong in this pack, Trev. We all… No, I depend on
you for teaching me the wily ways of women. Stop leading me astray.”
Jase chuckled and then went all serious again, but Trevor waited him
out until the usual playful grin took over Jase’s face.
“Jase, stop. Can’t you
see I’m not in the mood?”
“Shit, you have moods.
Good gods, isn’t that female crap? Fuck.”
“And since when do you
talk such trash? I’ve never heard you swear…and now, suddenly,
you’re choking on those damn words.” Trevor studied Jase,
realizing his friend worried about him. He wondered at the
possibility of making love with someone else after finding and losing
his primal-mate to another. Would his body even allow it? Guess there
was only one way to find out. Maybe having Jase along would be a good
back-up plan. “Fine, how about we go scare up some tail? What do
you think about sharing a female? I understand it’s every woman’s
dream.”
Jase’s
face lit every which way, from twinkling eyes to his shit-eating
grin. “I’m in. It’s like hands-on with a master, watch, learn,
and play at the same time.” Jase chuckled. “How can I go wrong?”

Hello Edyn;) I checked here too early today...now I feel like I'm very late:) Thanks so much for the excellent questions...you have a lovely site, and I'm so glad to be featured here:) Your comments in response to mine made me smile...big!
ReplyDeleteSo, what kind of shifter would you like?
I have no clue. It seems like the best have been used and others would be ridiculous. But ... that is why I stick to the blogs and reviewing and leave the writing to the professionals. :) What about something mythological such as a Gryphon? That would be awesome!
DeleteThanks for sharing the great excerpts and the wonderful interview. I would think a book about dolphin shifters or maybe thunder bird shifters would be awesome and totally different. Thanks for sharing the giveaway. This series sounds great and I am looking forward to reading it.
ReplyDeleteHi Eva! Always a pleasure to see your comments! I have read about a shark shifter but do not recall a dolphin. I seem to remember one being mentioned but not as a MC. You have a very good idea. Perhaps you will see it take life soon. Good luck in the giveaway! Thanks so much for stopping in!
