Reader’s Edyn

I always felt like I could do something more than just read. Finally, I have found both a creative outlet and a chance to do something meaningful with my reading. This blog was created in appreciation of and tribute to all of the authors who have brought me joy through their books. These reviews are my way of giving back to authors and providing recognition for the hard work that each one completes every day!

Interview & GIVEAWAY with author Amber Skyze

Ellora’s Cave Feature Month
Brought To You By
Reader’s Edyn

Interview & GIVEAWAY with author Amber Skyze

What’s up peeps? Continuing Ellora’s Cave Feature Month today with Week 2. Yay! I has excitement! Remember, the author may have been previously published with EC or is currently published with EC. Either way you will be learning an awful lot about the Ellora’s Cave authors this month. I hope you will continue to join us for this exciting adventure! You are sure to find it very entertaining!

My next EC author is Amber Skyze. Here is her bio from the EC website.

**BIO**

From a very young age, Amber Skyze began making up stories–the only child syndrome. Had anyone asked her back then if she would write when she grew up, she’d have laughed. It wasn’t until raising children and reading all those romances that she decided–hey, I can write these. Then she discovered erotica and found her calling.

When not crafting hot, steamy tales, this New York transplant now resides in Rhode Island with her husband (the inspiration behind her stories), three children who force her to work a day job, and three dogs. She’s thrilled to join the authors of Ellora’s Cave.

Please help me welcome:

**AMBER  SKYZE**

**INTERVIEW**

Your bio states that you used to write stories at a young age. How have the storylines changed from then until now?
When I first started writing I wrote books like Danielle Steele. Today I’m writing erotica. :o)

Quite a switch! Marriage, raising children, and reading romance sounds familiar. And you say that your husband is the inspiration for your books. Seriously? Even when you have a bad day? I know from experience mine can be less than inspiring at times. LOL
LOL Yes, he is an inspiration, but of course there are days when I’d like to kick him in the butt!

*snort* I understand completely! What was it about erotica that called to you?
The appeal of living out sexual fantasies and at the time it was taboo.

*coughs* Some might argue that it still is. Although those are usually the closet readers. LOL How has your life changed since becoming published?
Not much. I’m not making enough to support a full time career.

I hear that a lot, but I like that you can incorporate it into your RL so that we have more terrific stories to read. What is your typical day like?
I get up around 4-5am, write until I reach my 1k goal minimum or the baby wakes up. Then at 8am it’s time for the dreaded day job. The only positive is I work from home so I can slip in writing sometimes.

Nice … and 4am sure comes quick. I frequently groan to the sun to give me more time. Tell us a little about your current release I WANNA SEX U UP.
I WANNA SEX U UP is a contemporary erotic romance. It revolves around a home makeover show called Room Makeovers. If you like the Home and Garden or DYI channel, you’ll enjoy the story. (at least I hope you will)

Sounds fun! Any upcoming projects you would like to tell us about?
I have two books coming this summer. They’re co-authored with Katalina Leon. They are paranormal erotica. After a reunion in Salem MA four friends will go on journeys to find their true mate.

I like it! How do you keep in contact with your readers?
I have a newsletter, blog and website.

What is your favorite thing about this book?
I love DYI television shows and find a few of the hosts sexy. I had to write a book around one of them. J

Oh yeah! Them H&G Mens are Delish! *nods* When did you begin your journey as an author and what pulled you in the direction of writing?
I began my career in 1993. I was home raising small children. I did a ton of reading and thought, “I can do this.” How naïve I was. It’s not as easy as I thought.

I think that is a common misconception. I have close friend who are published and it really is a job … but hopefully one the author loves. How do you celebrate when you finish a novel?
I treat myself to new music on my iPod or a new book.

What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading Cathy McDavid’s X-treme Dating.

Any favorites you tend to go back to?
No, I have a hard time reading books more than once.

Any advice you’d like to share for aspiring writers?
Don’t give up. If you want it, don’t give up.

Word! I f you could travel back in time, where would you go and who would you meet? I’d go back to the Tudor era. I’m so curious about Henry VIII

Do you have any other hobbies or interests besides writing?
I’m interested in private detective work.

Snap! That is kind of what you do when you write, yes? So in a way writing is fulfilling an interest. *grins* Salty or Sweet?
Both

What is your favorite drink?
Corona, no lime

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas

*probes your mind* I feel a Christmas, private eye, erotic novel forming in your mind. Favorite place you have ever visited?
St. Joseph’s Church in Montreal

M&M’s or Skittles?
M&M’s

Long hair or short hair on a guy?
Long

Caffeine or Decaf?
Caffeine

Almond Joy or Mounds?
Almond Joy.

Favorite meal?
Surf and Turf.

Eh? PLEASE EXPLAIN! Tell us one random piece of information that you could have lived your whole life without ever knowing?
That a person will swallow at least six or seven spiders(while sleeping) in their lifetime.

*gags* Of course you have to mention my phobia. Okay. Nightmares tonight. Thanks for that. *shudders*

I want to thank Ms. Skyze for appearing today and for taking the time to answer my questions. Ms. Skyze has several books out with Ellora’s Cave. If you visit her website at the link included in the interview, you can check them all out. But for today, I would like to share just a few of her Ellora’s Cave titles with you.

**GETTING’  LUCKY**

**BLURB**
A story in the Cougar Challenge series.

Marcy Brown can’t get enough of Lucky, her massage therapist. Lucky’s fingers always linger dangerously close to…sensitive areas, and ignite a fire she can’t ignore. Marcy isn’t looking for a relationship, but a friend with benefits would be right up her alley. The women of her fave blog, Tempt the Cougar, swear by younger men, but Marcy doesn’t want to train someone. She wants a man who can give her orgasm after orgasm.

Lucky offers to be her secret lover and help her realize all her fantasies. With Lucky, Marcy discovers the thrill of sexual positions and taboos she’s been missing out on—up to and including sex with two gorgeous men at once.

All bets are off when this Cougar is challenged to get her growl on.

**EXCERPT**

“Isn’t he hot, sweetie?”
“Mom!” Marcy groaned.
“What? Is there something wrong with me thinking the young doctor is sexy?”
“Mother, please.” Not that there was anything wrong with her admiring the younger doctor. Shit Marcy fantasized about younger men, but she kept it under wraps. She didn’t speak the words out loud.
Marcy wished she could crawl under a rock and die. They were in the recovery room. Her mother had just undergone surgery for her broken wrist. It wasn’t like they were alone. The room was full of other people who had come from surgery too, along with their family members. Marcy looked around to see if anyone else was listening to her mother’s tirade. She couldn’t believe her mother was talking about how hot the doctor was in front of all these people. Christ, he was young enough to be her son, possibly grandson.
“Thank you,” the doctor said. “Now I want you to rest for the next few days. No using those fingers, either. You need to give your body time to recuperate.”
“Anything you say, Doctor.”
Marcy watched as her mother made googly eyes at the doctor.
“Do you make house calls?” she asked, reaching out with her good hand to touch him.
He chuckled.
“They don’t allow us to go to patients’ homes, but I’ll see you in a few days at my office. All right?”
“If you insist.”
“I’ll see you soon.” He patted her mother’s leg before rushing off to his next patient.
Marcy looked down at her mother.
“I can’t believe you just said those things to the doctor, Mother,” she whispered.
“It’s all right, Ms. Brown,” the nurse said. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of women enjoy the company of younger men.”
Not my mother and certainly not me. Though she couldn’t deny the growing attraction she’d been feeling for Lucky. Lately every time he massaged her he came dangerously close to her pussy, stirring up tingling sensations she hadn’t felt in a very long time. Thankfully her vibrator gave her the relief she craved after leaving her weekly massages, because she couldn’t risk losing Lucky. Entering into anything sexual with him would cross too many boundaries for her. She might have to change massage therapists and that would be a pity.
“I appreciate your understanding, but that doctor could be her grandson.” She knew she was exaggerating, but seriously. Her mother was too old to be drooling over the doctor.
The nurse laughed.
Marcy didn’t find anything funny about her mother fawning over the young stud. Yes, he was cute, not her type, but nice-looking.
“Stop being so uptight, Marcy. Just because Dan wasn’t smart enough to stick around doesn’t mean you’re a dead fish. You can have a little fun if you know what I mean.” Her mother winked.
Marcy wanted to flee the recovery room.
“It’s the anesthesia.” The nurse patted her hand.
“Thanks.” Marcy looked at her name tag. “Elizabeth.”
“No problem. I have a few things to check on, but I’ll be back shortly. Don’t worry about your mother. Once the anesthesia wears off she’ll probably forget the things she said.”
God she prayed the nurse was right. She couldn’t have her mother talking like this.
“I appreciate your understanding.”
The nurse nodded before heading off. She returned an hour later.
“Here are your discharge papers,” Elizabeth said. “And here’s something just in case your mom is serious.”
Marcy took the business card.
“Tempt the Cougar? What’s this?”
In a hushed tone, Elizabeth explained. “It’s a blog where women who want to experience the thrill of younger men gather.”
“Oh no. My mother definitely doesn’t need this.” Marcy attempted to hand the card back to her.
“Take it. You never know.”
“I’m sorry, but I do know. This is not something my mother would be interested in.”
Elizabeth shrugged.
“Then keep it for yourself. You never know, you might find it interesting.” She rushed off before Marcy could object.

    2. Good call Stacie! I love sandals also. It snows where I live, so I get to wear the sexy furry heel boots all winter long and I love them, but there is nothing like slipping into sandals really quick and getting to forget about socks altogether for a while. :)

    1. Hi Dusty ~ I was never a fan of camping because of a bad experience with another family when I was young. Came to find out after I married my husband that we were NOT camping. Interesting. I have since changed my opinion about camping and find that I enjoy it quite a lot; expecially because I am grilling-deficient and DH has to do the cooking. LOL As long as I have a stash of books, I am good to go. Last time I made a run to town to buy more books because I ran out ... and discovered Lisa Kleypas. So you see, camping too brings readers to authors. LMAO! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting.
